NUSACC AND GSO TO PREPARE
MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
His Excellency Dr. Anwar Yusuf Al-Abdullah, Secretary General of the GCC Standardization Organization (GSO) has received Engineer Mr. Khaled Masri from The National U.S. Arab Chamber of Commerce (NUSACC), on Sunday 22th of February 2009, in the GSO’s headquarter.
During this meeting, the participants have examined different ways of enhancing cooperation between GSO and NUSACC, on the basis of their common goals and objectives aiming at facilitating trade, through the achievement of favorable standardization conditions to encourage investment and employment creation, while guaranteeing rights of consumers.
In this context, His Excellency Dr. Anwar Yusuf Al-Abdullah urged to move forward in the consolidation of the culture of institutional communication, in order to obtain information on the problems that may hinder trade between the United States of America and the Gulf Cooperation Council’s member states. This cooperation may be helpful in removing trade barriers, particularly those related to standardization and technical regulations in the Gulf countries.
A Memorandum of Understanding between the GSO and the NUSACC will be prepared, in order to raise the level of bilateral cooperation. The Mou will serve as mechanism to support effective communication, exchange of expertise, and to raise awareness among economic operators, institutions interested in conformity and civil society. Such Mou will be signed in the near future.
